That depends on your taste and budget. Like purchasing a car or house, your choices will be determined by your budget. The goal is to get the best diamond that you can afford.
Is Diamond Size Important?
Diamond size is measured in carat weight. Small differences in carat weight can mean price differences of hundreds or even thousands of pounds. If the size is important to you, you can create the illusion of size by picking the right diamond shape. Fancy shapes such as oval, rectangle and marquise make the diamond look bigger based on their carat weight. A narrow band, and a bezel or halo setting can also accentuate the diamond's size.
Is the Diamond Colour Important?
Subtle differences in colour can dramatically affect diamond value. There are 23 colour grades from the letter D (colourless) to Z (light yellow, light brown or light gray). The more colourless the diamonds are the more rare it is. Once a diamond has been set and is worn its unlikely that you will see much difference from a D - G colour grade.
Is Diamond Clarity Important?
Flawless diamonds are extremely rare. There are 11 clarity grades which are determined by the size, number, position, nature and colour or relief of any inclusions or blemishes.
Is Diamond Cut Important?
If you are looking for sparkle and those unmistakable flashes of colour and light that telegraph 'diamond' across a crowded room, then the diamond's cut quality is really important.
